In order to hold the attention of the audience, it is 
essential that they understand what is going on and that 
their attention not be given a chance to wander.  Tricks 
that involve a long and complicated procedure to 
achieve their climaxes are rarely entertaining.  Dai 
Vernon, a great teacher of magic, summed it up well 
when he said, "Magic is not confusion."
